The position

As the Civil Engineer, you are responsible for providing input for the (annual) planning, programming, design, budget and production of civil projects of CAP. You define and prepare the technical scope of work, budget and cost calculations related to all civil projects and (extra ordinary) maintenance work including the buildings and other assets of CAP. You instruct, monitor and ensure, in close collaboration with the Civil Coordinator, that the technical execution of all civil activities and projects are carried out in conformity with technical standards, specified working procedures, cost effectiveness, and scope of work to achieve high-quality work. Furthermore, you coordinate and develop the most effective and efficient working procedures together with other (external) project coordinators and check, test and adjust civil drawings of consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. You initiate and lead the RFQ/RFP process of civil works in close coordination with project coordinators and the RFP committee, and perform the civil technical evaluation of proposed offers. Finally, you are responsible for maintaining an up-to-date digital civil drawings library and for building and maintaining a relevant network of experts and consultants in the field to facilitate specialized discussion and collaboration.

Your profile

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, and you have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience. You have theoretical and technical knowledge of construction and/or civil engineering. You have knowledge of civil engineering responsibilities, practices, systems and procedures. You have a critical attitude towards standard procedures and data, and have knowledge of innovative developments and applications in the field. You have analytical skills, and are skilled in project management. You are a problem solver, innovative and a quick learner. You have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, in English, Dutch and Papiamentu. Spanish is preferrable.
