Ridge the gap between knowledge and real-world change
Who we are
At the Aviation Academy, our ambition is to provide the current and next generation of professionals with the skills they need to meet the international aviation challenges of the next 10 to 15 years. We do this by providing both education and research, working closely with commercial and academic partners across the globe. This emphasis on collaboration boosts our students’ professional and research skills by placing them in real-world aviation settings. Here, they can prepare themselves for their future aviation career while bringing about tangible change in the companies they work with. Our current research programme focuses on a variety of specific research areas with the aim of increasing sustainable operational readiness. You can find a detailed description here.
As a lecturer at the Aviation Academy, you are responsible for educational development and teaching in corresponding areas such as aircraft & engine asset management, maintenance, flight operations, air traffic management and/or more fundamental engineering disciplines such as systems thinking, mechanics, structures & materials and electrics.
The focus is on understanding and modelling systems (e.g. hardware, business, ATM system), while considering applicable rules and regulations. To this end, the course material is aimed at conveying a fundamental knowledge of various relevant engineering disciplines and expanding this with knowledge on maintenance & asset management, operations and optimization of various systems.
Together with the Aviation Engineering team, you will help shape the aviation engineering graduate profile. You will create course material, cases, and exams. You are able to supervise students in relation to the subject field, deploying your teaching qualities in the process. You will identify relevant developments, not only in your subject field but also in terms of education and teaching. In addition to the activities, the supervision of students also includes mentoring, work placement supervision, and student career coaching.
You will translate developments in the professional field into teaching programs and the development of the degree program curriculum. You also monitor the coherence of the curriculum. You coordinate one or more courses.
